Stepup4christurch Raises a Staggering £275, 000 for CHCH!! A staggering £275 000 was raised by Stepup4christurch crew for the Christchurch earthquake relief fund. A total of 1000 people attempted the climb with 524 of those racing. The challenge was based on running up 1030 steps of Gherkin's building, London. The organizers wanted to thank everyone on behalf of Christchurch and show appreciation for all those that supported the challenge. 3L contributed by supporting upcoming kiwi superstar and long time stair running enthusiast Henry Savill. "If it was not for the share embarrassment of being overtaken by a 14 year old dressed as batman my time would of been approaching 9 minutes. With dignity intact, calf's feeling like concrete, I crossed the line in 7:34 sec, which was well off the pace admittedly of the fastest time 4:56 sec." puffed Henry after completing the race. The race details are listed below: Sunday 22nd May 2011, 10.00am-2.30pm (exactly 3 months after the devastating earthquake hit Christchurch) • 1,037 steps • 38 floors • For adults and children • Register and make a donation to run, walk or take the lift • Once registered, get your family, friends and colleagues to sponsor you for taking part • A rare chance to see London from the top of the City’s iconic tower COMMENTS / UPDATES SEND EMAIL
